Mini Review: Gucci Horsebit Hobo

Day 2 of #stayhomewithbags is a double whammy, as it’s #throwbagthursday as well! I dug deep to find this Gucci Horsebit Hobo, probably one of the bags that started everything for me. The year was 2005 and Jessica Simpson had multiple versions of this bag, and I ended up being consumed (check out The many Bags of Jessica Simpson part 1 and part 2 – girl has some great bags).

I didn’t have enough money to purchase it for myself, but funnily enough my dad was on a work trip to nyc and wished to get my mom a new bag. He called me and asked what he should get her, and I sent him to Gucci to look for this bag. The sales partner talked to me over the phone and they settled on this stunner (the version I clearly desired for myself). My mom liked the bag, but unluckily for her it was as well heavy and provided her frozen shoulder (no really, it did). because of that, I took it and made it mine.

The hobo is an underrated shape in the purse world, and when done right it looks beautiful on the body. The leather on this bag is divine, incredibly thick and smooshy. The horsebit outlining sits atop the structured shoulder strap and because it’s larger, it can clean against your body some. The larger hardware, large shape, and thick leather, do combine to make a heavy bag however. It made this bag hard for daily use, but it is a standout design. It seems like perfect timing to share this bag as the Horsebit is back in a big method for Gucci and finding a bag that is suddenly current again is really cool. shop current Gucci Horsebit bags now!

Skip the bouquet – the spring flowers you really want are on these 10 bags

Not long ago, it was hard to find a good, modern floral print. flowers felt a bit old-fashioned, and many bands passed them by for much more futuristic-feeling geometric designs. Stripes, in particular, had a moment as the industry’s most significant trend. then resort 2012 came around, and Celine changed how everyone felt about flowers on their clothes with the wave of a single black-based floral leather motorcycle jacket (and the button-down and cigarette pants that matched it). because everything that Celine designer Phoebe Philo touches turns to cool, we now have a bumper crop of stunning florals to pick from, numerous of which appear on this season’s many covetable bags.

For my dollars, the best of the florals are black-based, just like Celine’s; they take some of the easy girlishness out of wearing something so feminine and offer a bit of a darker edge. (Not to mention that they help hide wear on a handbag.) We’ve put together a list of the finest flower-adorned bags around, and you might notice that, on average, they’re a bit much more economical than many of the bags we write about. That’s because numerous of them are at least partially non-leather, which both makes them ideal for warm weather and gives your purse a bit of a break. check out our picks below.

Fendi diy Baguette Bag

I believe it’s important to look at this bag for precisely what it is: a novelty item, designed to get interest as well as make people talk, as well as likewise a great collectible for those that like Fendi as well as want to add something truly unique to their stash. Evaluating it like a routine bag is kind of besides the point.

The Fendi diy Baguette Bag is precisely what it seems like – it’s a woven, unfinished Fendi Baguette with whatever you requirement to embroider your own bag. It’s kind of an chance to have your own unique designer bag, which is type of cool, when you believe of it that way.

But realistically, it’s a bag that’s unfinished as well as offered to the consumer in parts, which is a bit weird. Or perhaps genius? I suppose it may be brilliant if, uh, you understand exactly how to embroider. Which I don’t. however it includes whatever I would requirement to get started – multicolor thread, needles, thimbles. It doesn’t include a “How to Make Your own Fendi Bag for the Low, low cost of $995” instructional DVD, however perhaps next season’s version will. Something to believe about if you’re listening, Fendi. buy with Net-a-Porter for $995.

Chanel autumn 2013 is an ode to bag enthusiasts everywhere

It’s so unfair that a few of the extremely finest accessories shows are at the end of fashion month. We’ve been waiting not-so-patiently for powerhouse purse brands like Chanel as well as Louis Vuitton to provide us a peek at what’s up next, as well as finally, all has been revealed. In the situation of Chanel autumn 2013, the collection [turned out to be] well worth the wait, especially if you enjoyed spring 2013’s Lego-inspired bags.

Not only did this collection include what seemed like a zillion new iterations of the bit clutch, a few of which were inset with textiles that matched their attendant ensembles, however it likewise introduced a new mini crossbody with hardware that reflects the structure of the Lego clutch. In fact, most of the Chanel bags were small, especially the spherical minaudieres that aped the giant globe that centered the set at the Grand Palais in Paris. The noteworthy size exception? Portfolio-sized Chanel boy Bags, huge sufficient to in shape a little laptop.

Lily Allen shops with Chanel in Soho

Here’s UK pop star Lily Allen, carrying a blue lambskin Chanel Bowling Bag while shopping at Intermix in Soho. (I feel an urgent need to add her sweater to my closet immediately.) We’ve seen Lily carrying a lot of Chanel in the past year, and for good reason: Lily is one of Karl Lagerfeld’s special pets. She even starred in the brand’s campaign for Chanel Coco Cocoon bags back in 2009. Chanel bags aren’t available online, of course, but you can read a lot more about Lily’s Chanel Bowling Bag on Chanel’s website.

We actually saw Lily dutifully carrying one of the Chanel Coco Cocoon Totes that she shilled for Chanel just last year. The puffed lambskin that gives the Cocoon bags their distinct look seems to have fallen out of favor in the last few years, but I’m sure it’ll have its day on the runways once again. even a lot more recently, we identified Lily repping for Chanel at both London fashion Week and Paris fashion Week. She carried three (yes, three!) Chanel metallic logo pouches in London, and the Chanel Art kid Bag in Paris.

Two sensational Proenza Schouler PS1s hit NAP today

shop Proenza Schouler by means of Net-A-Porter

Today Vlad and I traveled down to South Florida for a much-needed vacation. We plan to spend this time flopping from the pool to the beach with drinks in our hands, but I couldn’t go to bed without sharing a sneak peek I received in my email today. Our friends at Net-A-Porter know how much we love Proenza Schouler bags and made a decision to give our readers an exclusive look at two new PS1 bags hitting their virtual store today.

From a stunning white wine hued suede to a luxurious brushed python, I find myself yearning for each of these bags.

My desired Crocodile PS1 is one of the most fantastic bags I have ever owned and the exotic skin is of the highest quality. certainly the quality of the extra large brushed-python satchel will be superb as well, and I imagine the duo behind Proenza were able to make python skin both look and feel soft. price will be $5250.

And then we have the classic large PS1 suede satchel in a rich red hue. If you have been trying to find a fall messenger bag in a color that is both wearable and alluring, this is an fantastic choice. price will be $1995. shop Proenza Schouler bags by means of Net-A-Porter.

In case of Emergency: Bags that double as weapons

Is it just me, or is the world on fire? Rioting, political unrest, pop stars being beaten in the streets of new York. What’s a girl to do, in the face of modern society ripping itself apart at the seams? Arm herself, of course.

I’m not talking about getting a gun or a knife. No, those are hazardous and it takes time to fish one out from the bottom of your bag. I’m talking about getting a handbag that can also be used in self-defense maneuvers of all kinds, so that if the apocalypse must rain down while you’re at the movies, you’ll be prepared to survive in the dystopian hellscape that you encounter when you leave. Or, you know, you can use a lot of of these bags to whack a mugger in the head. but doesn’t the former somehow seem a lot more likely than the latter lately? In all seriousness, though, be safe out there ladies. particularly our readers in London.

Naturally, we couldn’t have this discussion in any way without the Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster Clutch. This design is the original handbag-as-weapon, or maybe it would be a lot more accurate to call it a weapon-as-handbag. how you use this one must be obvious. get through Neiman Marcus for $2125.

Those pointy bits on the front of the Botkier Flint Hobo are solid metal, and that indicates that in a pinch, you could cut one off, attach it to the end of a stick, and have yourself a helpful shiv (or spear, if the stick is lengthy). get through ShopBop for $495.

You may not be able to see it in this picture, but we’re all familiar with the big honkin’ chain that graces every Marc Jacobs Stam. I’ve got one myself, and whenever I’ve flown with it, I’ve found myself a little nervous that airport safety might wonder why I had such a long, heavy chain. You could stave off an attacker in any number of ways with this thing, including a swift blow to the noggin. get through Neiman Marcus for $1350.

If there’s one thing that Alexander Wang’s bags are known for, it’s the sheet of solid, heavy studs that graces the bottoms of lots of of them. Of all the options in the line, the Alexander Wang Diego bucket Bag is the best for self defense because of its long strap. Swing it around your head like wonder woman with her golden laso for maximum use of the bottom-mounted metal. get through Net-a-Porter for $975.

Because the studs on the Valentino Rockstud satchel are of a different placement and lighter weight than the Wang bag, I’d suggest using this one with the short handles to give a harasser a quick smack directly to the face. and then run away. Quickly. get through Saks for $2875.

Ok, so The Row Alligator backpack doesn’t have any particular qualities that might help you in a fight, but its price identify does indicate that any individual who can afford it can also probably afford a motorist and private security. If you’re going to carry around a handbag worth a lot more than a lot of people’s cars, you might want to think about acquiring one or both of those things. The Row insists that the bag is “price on request,” but it’s either $39,000 or $34,000, depending on who you ask.
